Praying For A Miracle

The last couple of days have been difficult on many levels. Each day presents itself differently than the one before. With each victory, there seems to be another upsetting challenge to face. The recent neuropathy has been treated by injecting chemotherapy into Nonnie's spine. These treatments appear to make her more comfortable, although she still has the weakness and loss of sensation to her extremities.

This morning, Nonnie had a blood test and the results confirmed that she is not in remission. Despite all of the treatments she has had, the leukemia has not responded according to plan. Although Nonnie will get another chemotherapy treatment in her spine tomorrow, this does not affect her leukemia because the spine is a closed system. It only helps with the neurological symptoms.

Lisa and I went to UCLA this afternoon after the doctors had a meeting with Nonnie and Papa. Nonnie has been battling this horrible disease for 15 months and her body can no longer sustain further treatments. Together, we cried and talked about how to deal with this horrible situation. On Thursday, Nonnie will be discharged from UCLA and sent home with hospice care.

Our family has not given up on a miracle to happen. Nonnie's faith is stronger than ever, and she has put everything in God's hands. She actually had a pretty good day today, and she wants to go home to be with family while she is still feeling this way. The most important thing for us to remember, is that He is in control!

  5. It was surreal hearing about the day that all of you had yesterday. Special hours together exchanging thoughts and feelings. From what you told me, there is no doubt that the Lord was in your presence. I will not stop praying for a miracle; however, I want so badly to understand that Linda is tired and looks forward to the eventual reunion with her parents, Mike, Shannie and Brennen. I love you Linda, with all my heart......

  6. Dear Linda I so admire your strength and courage to keep going. You have been though so much and you are such a beautiful lady. I know you have given all you can and that God will take care of you. Of course we are all hoping for a miracle because we are selfish and want to keep you with us. What ever the outcome you are loved by so many people and Mike and I are two of them. I wish you peace and comfort and God's will to keep you close to his heart and give you the strength needed.
We love you, Linda and Mike Nelson

  7. Dear Linda and Family....

My heart aches and grieves for you all. I am one not to give up! I serve and believe in a BIG GOD!!!! He is my creator of all of heaven and earth and when you just think and meditate on who he is, you know there is nothing to big or small that he cannot do.
I have sent messages to all my prayer warriors to take "Stand in the Forefront of Battle" for you.
Linda if you have any worship music I want to encourage you to please play it. Worship music changes the atmosphere all around us and we want Gods power to move in on you. I have witness miracles while people just were worshiping God....
I hold you and your precious family in my heart and carry your pain before the throne room of God.

Peace, comfort and strength are yours!!!
    Love
    Sylvia

  8. Linda and Omar, Jeff and Lisa: I'm so sad to read this. Maybe a miracle will happen. But maybe one miracle has already happened, simply all the time, life and love you've been gifted to share as such a close family. We've got you in our prayers here.

    Love, Chris and Sandy

We pray for miracles and we often get miracles that we don't recognize. That's because we are human. But, God has given miracles to us all and one of those BIG ones is to know of a family who has suffered and continues to endure. Another miracle, we take for granted is that we can pray and are ALWAYS heard by our Heavenly Father, never turned on with an empty ear. Thank goodness, He is in charge. Can you imagine if he left it all up to us? how we could mess it up? Geez! I just realized today I may never learn how to fold a fitted sheet and I'm been around long enough to know! haha We want Him in charge of all things in our lives. We live content in the knowledge that God is good, not just today or tomorrow but always. Our promise is that "his eye is on the sparrow so I know he watches me". We can not always come up with the perfect plan but HE can and does every single time. Do we always agree? No, but we have the knowledge that He does.
Prayers go out to all of you, as they have through all the trials of the past several months. We're priviledged to know of a most courageous family who will always, always be an inspiration for those of us in our weak, human days.
Much love and prayer to you all,
Aunt Lynda and Uncle Bob (B.A.L.)
