While You Were Sleeping

While most of us were sleeping at 4:00 this morning, Nonnie's nurse came in to take her vital signs and a blood sample. Since beginning her treatment, she has been getting platelets when she reaches 10,000 or 20,000 when she has a fever. The normal range for a healthy person is between 150,000 and 400,000. Today, her platelet count was at an all time low of 4,000. By 5:00 A.M. she was getting platelets, Tylenol and IV Benadryl. Fortunately, the Benadryl kicked in and she was able to sleep until 8:00 A.M.

Nonnie really appreciates the phone calls and visits she has been getting since she has been in the hospital. That tends to break up the day. Today was no exception, in fact, she had visits from Kenny & Kathy Winkler and Chuck & Kathy Reid. It is so awesome to see lifelong friends support each other through all of life's challenges!

The outpouring of love and support have been incredible to say the least. Over the weekend, Nonnie received a hand knitted throw blanket from Debbie Guerrero. Nonnie worked with her at T & C. She also got another throw/wrap from Gretchen (daughter of Rick & Charlotte). She told me they are "her colors" and she can't wait to snuggle with these once she gets back home!
