The Final Countdown

After visiting with the kids and grandkids for Easter, Nonnie and Papa had a chance to catch up on some much needed rest. Papa went for a long walk this morning around the UCLA campus, and found himself amongst thousands of students being let out of class in transition to their next. I can't get the image of Rodney Dangerfield in "Back To School" doing a "Triple Lindy" out of my mind!

Nonnie was feeling energetic today and gave herself a bath and put her makeup on before Doug and Annie came by for a nice visit. Papa took them to lunch at "Jerry's Deli", the place to be if you are easily star-stricken. She even received a package today from Kenny and Kathy...... a cute Easter duck.

She is getting the last of 7 chemotherapy treatments tonight and so far she feels pretty good. A nagging cough that is deserving of some Robitussin is her only complaint today. She is gearing up for the chemotherapy to take full effect later in the week by enjoying her daily walks and reading her magazines. Lisa is going back to the hospital tomorrow so Papa can go home to tend to the house for the day.

  1. Hi Linda, You look absolutely wonderful! We think of you every day, and pray for you throughout each day. God is so good and he will bring you through this trial. We've been keeping an eye on your house when Dave is gone (paper, trash, a little watering), so all you need to concentrate on is staying strong and getting well! Much thanks to Jeff for doing such a wonderful job on this blog!

  3. Good morning Linda,

David has so much energy, I can't believe it!!! Walking, doing lawns, Easter baskets, driving, taking care of the family and you, etc. When does he sleep????? He is just great! I just wanted to say "hi" and let you know that I was thinking about you. It sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your family on Easter, which is fantastic!
    Thinking of you,
    Diane

P.S. Ashley got into Cal State San Marcos, which, as you know when you were last at my house, she was waiting on acceptance. She is moving there in August! When you left my house that day, she made a two comments to me that stick out in my mind today: (1) "Is Linda always that nice?" I said, "ALWAYS!" and (2) "She is so easy to talk to." What accurate reflections. :)

  4. I just found this blog - what a wonderful way to keep everyone informed (and a little more accurate than reports from Grampa Jack).

Carma and I are thinking and talking about you every day. We hope you and all your family are doing well through this whole ordeal.

The photos say a thousand words. Aren't you glad you and Omar raised such an incredible family. The obvious support you have from your family leaves me in awe.

    We love you!

    Jeff & Carma
